Ethereum Pectra staking
Ethereum staking, upgraded for institutions
Pectra transforms ETH staking, giving you faster access to liquidity, lower operational overheads, and smarter, auto-compounding rewards.
Zodia Custody is among the first institutional custodians to support the Ethereum Pectra upgrade.
Safer. Simpler. Smarter.
Safer, more autonomous withdrawals
Trigger validator exits yourself — no reliance on operator signatures.
Reduce counterparty risk: your funds are less “locked in.”
Reduced operational overheads
Consolidate thousands of 32 ETH validators into fewer nodes (up to 2,048 ETH each).
Less complexity, lower costs, streamlined reporting.
Avoid repeating gas fees
Auto-compounding rewards remove the need for manual re-staking transactions.
Lower friction, fewer transactions, lower network fees.
Better reward optimisation
Validators activate faster, so capital enters the staking cycle sooner.
Partial withdrawals complete without full validator exit, saving ~27 hours per withdrawal.

What’s new with Pectra staking?
Pectra introduces several Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that improve how staking, validators, wallets, and withdrawals function – especially important for institutional and custodial staking.
Key EIPs (Ethereum Improvement Proposals) embedded in Pectra include:
EIP-7251
- Raises the maximum ETH a validator can effectively stake
- Enables the consolidation of smaller 32 ETH validators into a single validator (up to 2,048 ETH) with in-protocol auto-compounding of rewards above 32 ETH
EIP-7002
- Execution-layer triggerable withdrawals
- Clients can now directly initiate partial or full withdrawals from their validator – no operator signatures or pre-signed exit messages required
EIP-6110
- Faster validator deposit activations
- Newly deposited ETH begins generating rewards sooner
EIP-7702 (and others)
- Account abstraction / wallet improvements
- Smarter, more flexible wallet functionality

Is there a minimum quantum of assets that need to be deposited?
ETH staking must have a minimum of 32 ETH. This remains unchanged post-Pectra.
However, top-ups can now go up in increments of 1 ETH multiples (previously 32 ETH). Partial increments will sit as excess balance until enough accumulates to add another 1 ETH unit.
With EIP-7251, validators can now hold up to 2,048 ETH, so large stakes can be consolidated into fewer validators. Wallets are now able to add additional stake on already-running validators and withdraw some of their stake without withdrawing the entirety of the validator balance.
How much faster are withdrawals with Pectra?
Pectra makes ETH withdrawals more efficient by introducing partial withdrawals that don’t require validators to fully exit. The time saved depends on how your stake is structured.
This can be roughly one full day faster in typical conditions, as partial withdrawals skip the 27-hour validator exit delay.
